It makes us self centered and think we are a god in our own right. We were made for community with others and to help others. It’s not wrong to take pride in our selves, but we need to be mindful of how much it takes of our lives and who is given the credit.

Ownership can sometimes encourage entitlement. “It’s mine…I deserve it…why me…” Satan wants us to stay possessive, angry and offended because it’s like a disease that doesn’t allow man to mature spiritually. Our ability to love one another and serve God cannot be done in anger. Anger causes physical and mental health issues. It’s a great way for Satan to take advantage of our emotions and distance us from God.

I am not even mine! 1 Corinthians 6:20. When I hold onto what is “mine” if I no longer have possession of it I have suffered a loss and now have a basis for accusing God of “why me?” I am discovering in increasing measure the blessing of holding on to all things loosely. Because in the end, all I’ll have is what Christ has done for me.
